“Where you are doesn’t define who you are.”

Somebody To Lean On follows the Harmony Project prison choir in rural Ohio as the men work together to build their own arrangement of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me,” and in the process dig into the themes that make the song last.

Centering the voices of the people in the choir, the film offers insight into the incarceration system, counters the stereotypes common on television, and shows how rehabilitation programs can change not only individual lives but the communities on both sides of the wall.
